Giving much needed relief to the northeastern state of Manipur which has been virtually paralyzed due to an indefinite blockade, some 96,000 liters of fuel has reached the state in the past 24 hours.
Armed militants had ambushed convoys of tankers and trucks carrying fuel to Manipur on Assam-Manipur highway. Suspected Naga insurgents attacked around 300 trucks and oil tankers being escorted by CRPF and SSB from Jiribam in Assam to Imphal.
To counter the situation and to ensure that the supply of fuel to North East does not stop, IAF stepped in.
IAF used its Globemaster C-17 aircraft to ferry fuel laden tankers to Imphal.

C 17 Globemasters are the latest additions to the IAF and have quickly proved their mettle. Take a look at other operations where these jumbos played the hero.
India used C17 to rescue 4640 Indian citizens and 960 foreign nationals from Yemen in 2015.
Operation Sankat Mochan
C 17s turned to help their countrymen from Juba, South Sudan by rescuing 600 Indians.
Floods in Chennai, Uttrakhand and Kashmir
The Globemasters safely brought home thousands of stranded citizens in the floods of Chennai, Kashmir and Uttarakhand.
These jumbos leave no opportunity to make us proud!
