Last I read, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pinstripe jacket was sold for a mind-boggling, head-spinning, crazy-kicking Rs. 4.31 crores.
(You can get a Rolls Royce Phantom at a lower price.)
Who is the dude who bought it, you ask.
The buyer (read fanboy) is Gujarat’s (obviously!) Lalji Bhai Patel.
He is the chairman of Dharmanandan Diamonds Private Limited, and he plans to keep the suit in his office to remind him of the noble purpose associated with it.
The proceeds from the auction will go towards the cleaning of River Ganges.
Mr. Patel, who was born in 1955 in Bhavnagar, was obsessed with diamonds since childhood.
He calls himself a spiritual man, and believes he can fly a plane and repair his BMW.
Oh, and he started a private charted airline service, that operates within Gujarat, with other businessmen last year.
Indeed, the pathetic state in which our River Ganges is in, we need more Lalji Bhai Patels to contribute towards her cleaning in whichever way possible.
