Remember Jasprit Bumrah’s 84-year-old grandfather who became the talk of the town when people discovered that he is an auto driver? Santokh Singh, the 84-year-old paternal grandfather of cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, expressed his desire to meet his grandson and hug him before dying. Unfortunately, his last wishes couldn’t get fulfilled. Santokh Singh’s body has been found dead under mysterious circumstances floating in Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad on December 11, 2017. Santokh was a resident of Kichha in Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand, and had left for Ahmedabad to meet the cricketer.

According to reports, Jasprit Bumrah’s mother didn’t allow him to meet her son. Since December 9, 2017, he was reported missing. An FIR was filed in the Vastrapur police station in Ahmedabad that made the police start the search. Police officials who found his body suspect it to be a case of suicide.

Singh, once a successful businessman in Gujarat running three fabrication factories, was forced to drive an auto rickshaw in Kichha after his business went bust.

While talking to the source, Sadanand Date, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Udham Singh Nagar, said,

“As per the complaint registered with Ahmedabad Police, Santokh Singh had gone to his daughter’s residence at Sonal Apartments in Vastrapur on December 1. He wanted to meet his grandson Jasprit on his birthday on December 5. However, he couldn’t do so. On December 8, he called his son Balvinder Singh who lives in Jharkhand and told him that he was ‘leaving to meet his deceased wife.”

Financial conditions of Santokh Singh and his family started degrading when they had to close their business after the death of Jasprit’s father. His daughter Rajinder claimed that she along with her dad went to the school where Jasprit’s mother work but she allegedly refused to give any details about the cricketer. Said she didn’t even share his phone number with them. Rajinder also claimed that Santokh was in grief after this incident.

While talking to Times Of India earlier this year, Santokh Singh expressed,

“Jasprit once played in my lap and is now playing for the country. It feels great to see him bringing laurels for the nation. I pray to god for his success and want to meet him once before I die. I want to embrace and shower my love upon him. This is the only desire I am left with now.”

Sadly, destiny had other plans and Santokh had to go without meeting his grandson. The news has left everyone shocked. Looks like people aren’t really happy with Bumrah and his mother.

Tweeple have started slamming the two with many blaming them for Santokh’s death. Take a look at some of the reactions:
