A BSF Jawan’s video revealing the unfortunate state of what the army is served as their meal has been making the Internet go awfully upset and enraged in the last week or so.
As a result of Internet’s powerful capabilities, Rajnath Singh, the minister of home affairs, took note of it and promised to take an action in the direction.
I have seen a video regarding a BSF jawan’s plight. I have asked the HS to immediately seek a report from the BSF & take appropriate action.Advertisement

However, seems like the Army is not very pleased by the circulation of such hard-hitting videos. The Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat, gave a speech on the occasion of Army Day whereby he warned that such condemnation on social media could lead to serious consequences.
“Aapne jo kaarwayi ki hai, aap uske liye apradhjanak bhipaaye ja sakte hain aur saza ke haqdaar bhi ho sakte hain (For the step you have taken, you can be held guilty of doing a crime and even be punished),”
According to him, such accusations are apparently affecting the morale of jawans posted at the border.
“Certain men from the forces are using social media to express their grievances. This is affecting the morale of jawans posted at the borders. There are proper channels in place for jawans to put across grievances, if they are not satisfied with action taken, they can contact me directly.”
Now, it’s left to be seen if Army Chief’s oblivious statement is an attempt to hide their shortcomings or they’re indeed keen on following the protocols in lieu of their disciplinary code of conduct. Unfortunately, somehow this sounds like a rude attempt of curbing the freedom of expression of the men fighting on the border.
