Netflix India has done a brilliant job in providing Indian audiences with engaging and good quality content. This includes the super hit series ‘Sacred Games‘, ‘Love Per Square Foot’, and ‘Lust Stories’ etc. Now, the media streaming giant has recently acquired an independent movie titled ‘Brij Mohan Amar Rahe‘. The movie represents a shift in the type of content Netflix has to offer.
The movie is a slapstick comedy with dark connotations in every corner. So far Netflix has relied on big names like Anurag Kashyap, Nawazzudin, Radhika Apte and others to provide quality content. Their latest acquisition, however, comes with a rather unknown cast and director.

The only known faces in the cast include Arjun Mathur of ‘Angry Indian Goddesses’ fame portraying Brij Mohan. And also Nidhi Singh from the web series ‘Permanent Roommates’. Netflix going for a movie like ‘Brij Mohan Amar Rahe‘ hints towards the recurrence of independent cinema in India.

‘Brij Mohan …’ traces the life of a lingerie shop owner Brij Mohan in old Delhi, whose debts are mounting by the minute. Brij also has multiple affairs to pacify his agony of having a ball-busting wife. He then goes deeper into trouble when he engages with loan sharks and accidentally commits a murder. Brij then establishes a fake identity and runs away with his young mistress. For the climax you’ll have to see the film currently streaming on Netflix.

The basis of the story seems quite relatable for the general population filled with loan sharks, judicial misconduct, infidelity, and murder. However, as per reviews, the film is quite predictable throughout until the ending dawns on the viewers.
In its attempt to maintain comedy sometimes the movie gets carried away with few things. Though the acting by the protagonists and other actors is mostly on point.
