Even as kin of slain soldiers demands the union government for strict action against the Maoist that attacked the CRPF Jawans in Sukma, the district police has gone all out and put a bounty on culprits head by offering upto Rs. 40 lakh reward for any information on the perpetrators.
Outraged by the killings, the Sukma District Police on April 28 released posters declaring rewards to anyone who could provide information on the Naxalites who were behind the attack.
To make sure that people feel safe and not fear that they would face harm, the police has mentioned in the poster that identity of the messengers will not be disclosed.
Meanwhile, the CRPF have also put more forces behind the cause and decided to enhance the number of lethal counter-insurgency operations in the area.
Director General of the CRPF, Sudeep Lakhtakia, has deployed a total of 28 battalions in the south Bastar region alone, where the attack took place and is said to be one of the worst Naxal-affected areas.
One must note that a regular CRPF battalion comprises of over 1,000 personnel each and with this initiative, they hope to effectively dominate the area.
On April 24, 25 CRPF jawans were killed in Sukma, Chattisgarh when hundreds of Naxals ambushed the 74th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force.
