Acting isn’t all glamour and glitz – sometimes it may involve some amount of risk, especially when actors decide to do their own stunts. With stunt doubles and advancements in special effects, it can be difficult to find actors who want to risk their lives to perform their own stunts. But there are some who have the guts to perform a dangerous fight scene, get knocked in the face, or jump from burning buildings, playing with fire or showing sheer daredevilry on helicopters and planes. These stars who do their own stunts put themselves in harm’s way to give their fans with that extra thrill that comes with knowing that they performed their own stunt.

1. Tiger Shroff
Tiger Shroff has been seen doing things normal people cannot do. In his career, Tiger has impressed especially with his dancing and his action stunts where the youngster defies gravity with his moves. Tiger is seen landing perfect flying kicks smoothly in these pictures. For his movie ‘A Flying Jatt’, the actor has gone a few steps ahead and choreographed an entire action sequence.
2. Katrina Kaif
Being a brave actress, Katrina has been insistent that she does stunts on her own. She performed her own stunts in Dhoom 3, Ek Tha Tiger, Bang Bang, Phantom, and Tiger Zinda Hai. Kaif made an entry in ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ by slaying a group of armed goons who were trying to rob a departmental store.
3. Hrithik Roshan
Hrithik Roshan performed many great stunts during his film career. He has performed risky stunts in Krrish, Jodhaa Akbar, Bang Bang and Dhoom 2. The actor reportedly received severe injuries during the filming of action sequences in Bang Bang and Mohen Jo Daro, due to which he had to stay away from his work for some time. Apart from doing fabulous dancing and acting, he does not like stunt doubles.
4. Akshay Kumar
The ‘Khiladi Kumar’ stays away from taking the help of a body double and performs all his dangerous stunts himself. In 1996, when on the sets of Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, he military pressed WWE star The Undertaker (320lbs), causing his back to give out. It hurts him even till now. He is also known to showcase his daredevilry on helicopters and planes. In one of his earlier movies named Ashaant released in the early 90s, Akshay performed a high-risk stunt that of hanging from a chopper while it raced amidst cars and buses.
5. Vidyut Jamwal
Actor Vidyut Jamwal, known for his high-octane stunts in his movies, had designed his own action sequences in collaboration with an international stunt team for ‘Commando – One Man Army.’ His stunts in the film were extremely dangerous and were done all by himself without the support of any ropes or harnesses. He also practices Kalaripayattu – a martial art form from Kerala. This includes strikes, kicks, grappling, and weaponry.
6. Shahrukh Khan
You may know him as king of romance but he is also the king of action. Most of his action stunts in Don series and Raees was performed by him without any stunt double.
7. Shraddha Kapoor
During the making of Baaghi, she performed all stunts on her own without any harness. She may look like a delicate doll, but during a product launch, she performed a gravity-defying stunt on the sides of high rise buildings (called bandalooping otherwise).
8. Sonakshi Sinha
Sonakshi Sinha is the new action girl on the scene. The actress, who had trained in mixed martial arts for ‘Akira’, had performed risky stunts for ‘Force 2’. “There are car chases and gun combats. We had a mixed pack of action directors, including some from South Africa and Bangkok, along with our own Allan Amin. Each one brought a different flavour to the thrills, and I learnt something new with every sequence we shot,” she said.
9. Priyanka Chopra
From Don, Mary Kom, to Quantico, she did many of her actions sequences on her own.
10. Taapsee Pannu
She had taken up lessons of several forms of martial arts including Krav Maga and mix martial arts for her training of Naam Shabana. She trained rigorously for almost three months and while she was shooting Taapsee was trained by one of the best martial arts expert and Hollywood stunt director, Cyril Raffaelli. Her role in Baby impressed everyone, especially the hand to hand combat scene.
