Wedding season is going on and obviously, we can’t repeat outfits. When it comes to choosing the best outfit for any function, Bollywood saves our asses and gives us amazing ideas.
Whether it’s Mastani’s grand outfit or Madhuri’s beautiful lehenga from the song ‘Didi tera devar deewana’, all the outfit ideas are just a click away.
Ever wondered what happen to these outfits after the shoot gets over?
Sadly, the outfits that inspire us are generally left packed up, forgotten! Yash Raj Films’ stylist said,
Well, that’s what happens to most of them. They are locked up in trunks, kept in the production houses, labelled with their respective movie names, and forgotten.
The outfits that inspire entire generations are packed up and left to rot. Many a time, these outfits are mixed and matched for junior artists and are used for shoots again in the movies of the same production houses.
Sometimes, the actors, with the permission of the designer and the producer of the film take the outfits home as a token of remembrance. Also, many a time, big designers, especially Manish Malhotra or Anju Modi, when hired to make outfits for a movie generally take their creations back after the shoot.
Remember, the 17 kilogram lehenga Anushka Sharma wore in the song ‘Channa Mereya’ for the movie ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’? It was designed by Manish Malhotra.
Also, the outfits that succeed in making an impact globally are kept for auction to raise money for a cause or charity.
Some of the outfits that Rajnikanth and Aishwarya wore in the movie ‘Robot’ were auctioned and the money raised was given to an NGO.
Ummm…So, when is the next auction?
