The Indian film fraternity is all about Bollywood families which have ruled the silver screen, ever since you imagined. Being born with a silver spoon in mouth, a majority of some of the famous actors and actresses shot to fame in no time, without facing any struggling period.
The biggest advantage that those belonging to these Bollywood families enjoyed is the rapid rise in their career graph as compared to those who do not come from film background and neither had a godfather or godmother. Let us take a look at Bollywood’s seven biggest families and how many films reached us through them, respectively:
1. The Bhatt family:
This family is by far one the most extraordinary Bollywood families. The Bhatts are undoubtedly an integral part of Indian cinema, with exceptional films from Mahesh Bhatt like ‘Arth’ and ‘Aashiqui’. His youngest daughter Alia Bhatt is also an established actress with films like ‘Highway’ and ‘Udta punjab’.
This family also features ‘serial kisser’ Emraan Hashmi, who is Alia’s third cousin. Together, the Bhatt family has given us 390 films.
2. The Bachchans:
Most of us are well aware of the potential of this family. Did you know that Shweta Bachchan is married to Nikhil Nanda, Raj Kapoor’s maternal grandson? So right after Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya ruled the box office, son Abhishek Bachchan entered the domain. He worked in films like ‘Dostana’ and ‘Dhoom 2’.
Abhishek got married to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, known for films like ‘Taal’ and will soon be seen in ‘Fanne Khan‘. The Bachchan family together have contributed 323 films, most of them are simply unmissable.
3. The Akhtars:
The Akhtars and the Azmis enjoy good rapport in the Indian film industry. Lyricist Javed Akhtar’s first wife was Honey Irani, an actress. His second wife, Shabana Azmi comes from an acting family background as well.
Honey Irani’s sister is Maneka Irani, who is Farah Khan’s mother. Another actress related to Shabana is Tabu, who has worked in films like ‘Dhrishyam’ and ‘Chandani Bar’. Even Javed’s son Farhan proved himself in films like ‘Rock On’. So this family gave us 358 films together.
4. The Mukherjee family:
The Mukherjee family is not only filled with stunning beauties but talent as well! Here almost everyone is either an established actor or a director or a music composer. This family has been ruling the film industry since the 1930s. With Kajol and Tanuja as its spearheads, what less can you expect?
Director Ayan Mukherjee who has done films like ‘Wake Up Sid’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ is Kajol and Rani Mukherjee’s first cousin. The Mukherjees have given us 202 films, while we still look forward to more!

One of biggest names in the Bollywood world is of course the Kapoors. With names like Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor as head of the family, their elaborate contribution to Indian cinema is beyond any figure. The Raj Kapoor banner isn’t only synonymous with older generation, but today’s as well.
Currently, the the fourth generation of Kapoors is ruling the industry that includes names like Karishma Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, etc. As stated obviously, their contribution is endless and together the Kapoor khandaan has given the industry 497 masterpieces.

The Roshans have of course given us talents like Hrithik Roshan who is most famous for ‘Krissh’ and excellent music by Rakesh Roshan’s brother Rajesh Roshan. Apart from the green eyes, the family is good with talent. Hrithik Roshan was married to Suzanne Khan and they have two sons together.
