SRK, Katrina, Kartik And More – How Much Have These Celebrities Donated To PM-Cares Fund?

The coronavirus pandemic has engulfed the world and has been slowly and steadily spreading its wings in India as well. Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a precautionary measure has issued lockdown in the country that has severely hit the daily wage workers in the country. While the state and the central government is doing its best to ensure that they are taken care of, extending their support, several Bollywood celebrities have also joined hands by donating to the PM-Cares fund.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar came forward and announced that he will be donating Rs 25 crore to PM-CARES. This ignited a heartfelt wave and many others stepped forward to pledge donations to various relief funds, including Lata Mangeshkar, Varun Dhawan, Sonam Kapoor, Karan Johar, Rajkummar Rao, Bhushan Kumar among others. The announcement of these donations was made by these celebrities on social media.

Kartik Aaryan took to Instagram and wrote, “It is the absolute need of the hour to rise together as a nation. Whatever I am, whatever money I’ve earned, is only because of the people of India; and for us I am contributing Rs. 1 crore to the PM-CARES Fund. I URGE all my fellow Indians also to help as much as possible.”

Shah Rukh Khan along with wife Gauri and business partners Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta also came forward to donate and do their bit in the fight against coronavirus through their IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Shah Rukh and Gauri’s film banner, Red Chillies Entertainment has also pledged to make a donation to the Maharashtra CM’s Relief Fund.

Badshah, a popular singer and rapper in Bollywood, also shared the update on Instagram and wrote, “The time has come. Our country and the entire world is facing an unprecedented health crisis. India has been putting up a very strong fight but it needs you. The smallest contribution matters. Do whatever you can in anyway you can. Ive done my bit. Swipe right to find where and how you could do your bit. Dont worry about the number but leave no stone unturned. This is the time to get united and fight selflessly. Jai hind. @narendramodi.”

The Padmaavat actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh also pledged their support towards PM-CARES Fund. “In times like these, every bit counts. We humbly pledge to contribute to the PM-CARES FUND, and hope that you will too. We’re all in this together, and we shall overcome. Jai Hind,” the star couple said in a statement.

Actress Anushka Sharma, along with husband and cricketer Virat Kohli, too pledged to support the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund as well as the Chief Minister’s (Maharashtra) Relief Fund to help in the ongoing battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan donated to fight the coronavirus outbreak and have contributed to three humanitarian aid organisations—UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund), Give India and International Association for Human Values.
