Within a month of horrific details of Kathua and Unnao rape cases coming to light, there has been a yet another incident of rape, this time in Lakhimpur district of Assam.
A bling beggar and a father to a 10-year-old girl in Lakhimpur district in Assam raped his daughter for four months before he was caught by the neighbors. The neighbors caught him in his house and beat him up, but before they could call the police, the accused ran away. According to police, he started raping his daughter around four months back when his wife left him and went her own way. The neighbors also made a clip of the man being beaten by them and submitted it as an evidence to the local woman police station while filing the FIR.

In an another incident, the police caught another adult man in Tinsukia district of Assam for allegedly raping a six-year-old-girl. The accused has been identified as Shekhar Ali and was a relative of the victim. Such incidents have become quite common in the state. On April 18, a security guard was caught by the police for his alleged involved in raping a minor girl in Guwahati. In Nagaon district of Assam, the police caught three people, including two minors, who had raped a 11-year-old girl.
Despite the strict laws and the recent amendment in Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, there has not been any decrease in the horrific crime committed again young girls.
