Here’s Why Court Gave This Gujarat BJP MP Three-Year Imprisonment

BJP MP Naranbhai Kachhadia, who assaulted a doctor at the government hospital in 2013, has been sentenced to three-year imprisonment.

Four others — Kirit Bhamja, Madhu Joshi, Ravi Joshi and the MP’s driver were also sentenced to three years prison term. Judge D R Bhatt imposed a fine of Rs 35,000.

The two-term MP from Amreli (Gujarat) was accused of beating up Bhimjibhai Dabhi as he refused to attend to a BJP worker’s relative. He also hurled casteist abuse.


Dabhi had asked the relative to wait as he was attending to another patient.



Kachhadia might face disqualification under The Representation of The People Act as per the July 2013 judgement of the Supreme Court.
