Joining in the long chain of mindless and insensitive comments, BJP lawmaker, Thakur Raja Singh Lodh, from Goshamahal in Hyderabad commented that the people opposing the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will be beheaded.
BJP and its members have consistently voiced their willingness to build Ram Mandir and the plan has gained immense momentum since last month when the party came into power in UP. Uma Bharti, the Union minister for water resources, had earlier said,
Ram Temple is a matter of belief for me and I have immense pride in it…if I have to go to jail for it I will go, if I have to hang myself for it I will do it.
However, Thakur Raja Singh Lodh has gone a step ahead and has commented,
Some people are saying that they will create ruckus if Ram Mandir is built in Ayodhya. I welcome the ones who are warning of dire consequences. We have been waiting for years to behead such traitors.
In 2015, he had opposed the beef festival in Osmania University in Hyderabad and had said,
We are ready to kill or get killed to protect cows. We have the right to stop cow killers. This festival is a political conspiracy for votes.
It is pitiful to see a country like India being torn down by religious sentiments. ‘Bharat’ as it is fondly called has a rich history of tolerance and adoption. It is the land where Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism took birth.
It is now upon the educated youth to rise above these issues and bring the nation together. Because as they say, “United we stand”.
