BJP and PDP joined hands to form the ruling coalition in the state of Jammu and Kashmir where they have been in power since 2015. However, in a sensational development, the BJP has decided to break its ruling alliance. The party has already sent a letter to J&K Governor NN Vohra informing about the split. Further adding that they are withdrawing their involvement on the government lead by the PDP.
The news of breaking off the alliance came after the Centre decided of not extending the conditional ceasefire in the Valley despite CM Mufti’s desire for its continuance.
The Centre declared a conditional ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir on May 16 to peacefully observe the holy month of Ramadan. The central further asked the security forces not to launch any operation in the area unless the lives of innocent people were at stake. It also meant a reciprocal gesture from the separatist terror groups. However, the incidents that took place following the ceasefire clearly depicts that the separatists were not interested in observing the same. Especially, two heinous incidents that left everyone shocked.
An Indian army jawan Aurangzeb was abducted and then brutally killed by the terrorists.
Also, veteran journalist Shujaat Bukhari was cruelly shot dead outside his office.
Just a few months before this decision by the BJP, its ministers in the J&K government tendered their resignation after having a fallout with PDP over Kathua rape and murder case. There was already a rift between the parties that widened after the government’s decision to resume anti-terror operations.
It mainly started when PDP sacked its minister Haseeb Drabu who was the key interlocutor between the parties. BJP and PDP showed their difference during the latter’s failed promises to talk to the separatist groups and difficulty during rolling out of GST in the state. Finally, with the failure of the ceasefire, the alliance ended.
The present CM Mehbooba Mufti handed in her resignation after BJP’s announcement. Presently, there are also talks of imposing Governor’s rule in the state until the situation gets restored to normalcy.
As soon as the news hit the internet, the netizens showed their reactions. While some supported the decision, others accused BJP of ruining the state. Here’s what they wrote:
BJP divorces PDP in Jammu Kashmir ; Mehbooba Mufti resigns
I welcome this decision announced by @rammadhavbjp

Withdrawal of support to @jkpdp is a great decision by the @BJP4India, which we were demanding for long. #GovernorsRule is the only choice. The coalition had done more damage to the party and the country at large. #BJPDumpsPDP #JammuKashmir

BJP during Demonetisation
(Nov 2016 ) – Demonetisation has broken the back of terrorism.
BJP today ( 19 June 2018 ) – We have decided to pull out of the alliance because terrorism has increased in the valley.

Didn’t BJP tell us that demonetisation had broken the back of terrorism in Kashmir? Then what happened? https://t.co/S9nyOMocKl

Don’t get fooled by the Propoganda, the PDP & the BJP both are responsible for these failures –
– Kathua Rape Case
– Shujaat Bukhari Killing
– Abduction & Brutal Killing Of Rifleman Aurangzeb
– Imposition of Ceasefire During Ramadan ( Completely unnecessary) #BJPDumpsPDP
