1. Soorma (2018)

Bollywood’s new heartthrob Diljit Dosanjh has starred in the biopic of the legendary hockey player Sandeep Singh. It revolves around the hockey player – how he started his career, was accidentally shot and then made a comeback despite the injury. Sandeep Singh says that all he wants from this movie is that people should know that fighting is the way of life.



2. Sanju (2018)

The movie that won the hearts of millions and is now the 6th highest grossing Bollywood films of all times at the box office is the biopic of actor Sanjay Dutt. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Ranbir Kapoor, the movie throws light on the controversial and intense life of Sanjay Dutt.




3. Pad Man (2018)

The man who did wonders by breaking the taboo by wearing a sanitary pad has a biopic made on him. Arunachalam Muruganantham worked hard to make affordable pads for all the women in his village in Coimbatore. ‘Pad Man’ stars Akshay Kumar and shows the journey of Arunachalam. The movie talks about the importance of menstrual hygiene. The movie was loved because it was the first time an topic like menstruation was portrayed in a mainstream movie.



4. Sachin: A Billion Dreams (2017)

With so many biopics coming up, how can Bollywood miss the God of Cricket? A biopic on Sachin Tendulkar came out in 2017 which stars the player itself. It is the story of how a little kid, with a vision and dreams, reaches where he is today. It is the journey of Sachin from nothing to the most loved sportsman of the nation.



5. M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016)

The World Cup-winning captain of the Indian Cricket Team, M.S Dhoni shares his story and how his coaches and friends inspire him to become a cricketer through his biopic ‘M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story’. The movie stars Sushant Singh Rajput, who tells how Dhoni turned from a ticket collector to a trophy collector.



6. Dangal (2016)

The movie that won the hearts of so many Indians, along with proving the fact that women are no less than men, was the story of a former wrestling legend, Mahavir Singh Phogat, and his daughters. The movie stars Aamir Khan, Sanya Malhotra, and Fatima Sana. It tells how the two daughters of a wrestler father struggle towards making their position in the Commonwealth Games despite being faced with so much societal oppression.



7. Budhia Singh: Born to Run (2016)

The world’s youngest marathon runner, Budhia Singh, came to limelight with his biopic ‘Budhia Singh: Born to Run’. Budhia Singh achieved great popularity for his feats as a child. His biopic was filled with controversy and also acted as an inspiration for the whole world.



8. Mary Kom (2014)

The hardships faced by the five times World Boxing champion and Olympic bronze medalist Mary Kom is depicted in the movie with same name. The movie stars Priyanka Chopra and reveals the struggles that Mary Kom had to face before reaching where she is today. It tells us how she convinced a coach at a boxing gym to teach her boxing so that she could fulfill her dreams. She did all this without the approval of her father.



9. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013)

We all have heard about the ‘Flying Sikh’ in our country. ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ is a tribute to the great sports icon Milkha Singh, who was an Olympian. The movie stars Farhan Akhtar and is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The movie is first of its kind sports biopic in India.

2. Narendra Modi

The man who is responsible for arousing the interest of the millions of youth in politics is none other than the current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. A biopic on his success story is soon going to be out and it will star by one of the most talented actors of the industry, Paresh Rawal. Rumors have it that the script still needs to be locked and that is what is currently being done.



3. Saina Nehwal

Though the name of the movie has not yet been decided, it is confirmed that there is a biopic coming up on the badminton star and Olympic bronze medalist Saina Nehwal and will be played by the talented actor Shraddha Kapoor. Shraddha Kapoor has started training for the movie and is super excited for it. The movie is expected to release next year.



4. Kapil Dev

When the story of many legendary people are being discussed, how can we miss out former Indian Cricket Team Captain? He is the men under whom India won its first World Cup? A biopic on the life of Kapil Dev is expected soon, and the buzz has it that the role of the cricketer will be played by Ranveer Singh.



5. P.V. Sindhu

A biopic on the super talented badminton player, who is also the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal, PV Sindhu, is also coming up and will be produced by Sonu Sood. Rumors have it that the movie will star Deepika Padukone, who was a National level badminton player before taking to acting.



6. Anand Kumar

It is not that Bollywood is just obsessed with sportsmen and celebrities. Other famous people are also given their due share of recognition when it comes to biopics. The famous mathematician, Anand Kumar is all set to have his biopic in 2019. He is the founder of the Super 30 coaching institute, wherein he selects 30 students each year from sections of society that cannot afford to pay fees and trains them for IIT-JEE entrance exams. The title of the movie is yet to be decided, but it is already known that Hrithik Roshan will star in the movie.



7. Kapil Sharma

The audience will love to know how the man who makes millions of people laugh every day reached where he is today. The most popular Indian comedian, Kapil Sharma, is soon going to have a biopic made on him. Krushna Abhishek, a comedian himself, will be playing the role of Kapil Sharma. Vinod Tiwari will direct the movie and he is keen on letting the world know how Kapil started from the scratch and emerged as one of the most loved comedians.
