If not the richest in the world, the founder of Microsoft is definitely the richest man in America currently. Hence, it’s obvious the common folk like us would want to know what the Bill Gates house looks like, how much it is worth and how lavishly does the richest man in America live? To begin with, the home is a spread massively over a 66,000 square feet area and is (obviously) loaded with high-tech details. It goes without saying that the other details of one of the home of one of the wealthiest people in the world would be insanely extravagant too!
Located in Medina, Washington and called “Xanadu 2.0”, the house took seven years and $63 million (6.3 crore INR) to build, you will be surprised to know the current value of Bill Gates’ House. Let’s take a tour of the house from within too, shall we?
Adjustable climate and lighting in each room
Any guests arriving at Xanadu 2.0 are given a pin which interacts with sensors placed all across the house. Guests can enter their lighting and temperature preference which follow them as they move from room to room. Besides that, the music coming out from speakers hidden behind the wallpaper, also follows you as you take a tour of the house, or move across its expanse.
The Artwork on the walls can be changed, digitally
The artwork in Bill Gates home can be changed too. Computer screens worth $80,000 have been fit in across the walls of the house and the screen’s display can be changed to one’s favorite paintings or photographs which have been saved on devices worth $150,000.
An environmentally friendly house
Xanadu 2.0 has been built into its surroundings in a manner that the natural elements help maintain a steady temperature in the indoors of the house. The tall trees around the residence help safeguard it against heat loss.
The external part of the house has an artificial stream
The perimeter and the road leading to the house entrance have a beautiful artificial stream, the water of which is kept stocked with salmon and sea-run cutthroat trout.
The sand on the beach outside the house is exported
The lakefront shore outside Gates house is delivered from St.Lucia.
A combination pool
The size of the swimming pool in Bill Gates house is a whopping 60 feet by 17 feet . It has a fossil-motif floor and an underwater music system (which is again sensor controlled and can be changed via the pin provided at the house entrance). The pool has been built in a separate terrace but diving into it can not only bring you out on the terrace floor but can even get you inside the house again. That’s right, the pool can be accessed inside as well as outside and a glass wall divides both the indoor pool and the outdoor one, with enough room underneath to swim between the two.
The house has several garages at various points around the property, with a capacity to park 24 cars in all. The most interesting one of these garages is said to be an underground cave, which is made of concrete and steel. This garage alone can park 10 cars.
Though the house only has 7 bedrooms, don’t let that fool you about its dimensions and the massive size. The total number of bathrooms in the house are twenty-four, including ten with bathtubs. The reception hall is 2,300 square-foot and has the capacity to seat 150 people for dinner or 200 people for a cocktail party. The dining room is 1,000 square foot (larger than most 1 or 2 bedroom houses in Indian metro cities) and can seat up to 24 people at a time. The 2,500-square-foot gym is where all the family takes care of their workout and the 2,100-square-foot library is where they read from what can only be the most treasured collection of books. Over and above these basics, the house also has a 1,500-square-foot, art deco home theater with plush comfortable seating for twenty, along with a popcorn machine.
Those were just the normal rooms though. Besides these, there is also a trampoline room with a 20-foot ceiling. So, the Gates’ don’t even need to go looking for adventure, as it is right under their roof. This also proves that Bill Gates, indeed, does have it all. Also, to get to the main entrance you need to climb 84 stairs and if you’re not feeling up to it, you can simply take the elevator too of course!. Currently the house valued approx US $155.1 million.
