In a shocking and disturbing CCTV footage, a woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnore, was seen brutally assaulting and trying to strangulate her elderly mother-in-law.
The almost two-minute long video shows the woman, identified as Sangeeta Jain, slapping, kicking, chocking with a noose made of cloth and even beating her 70-year-old mother-in-law Rajrani Jain with a brick-like object.
She also tries to drag the old woman from her bed but was unable to do so.
The disturbing visuals are from January 5.
Rajrani Jain told ANI:
“My daughter in-law attacked me brutally. That day she came from the kitchen and started slapping me. She almost strangled me to death. She even hit my head with a brick. I don’t know why she did this. I never interfered in anything happening in the family.”
Sangeeta’s husband Sandeep Kumar Jain said that he installed CCTV camera in their home to catch her red-handed as she had been assaulting his parents for quite some time.
“I installed the CCTV to expose her because of her behaviour, but still she did not improve,” he told ANI.
“She was always like this. She used to attack us all – my parents, me…” Sandeep Jain said. He, however, was not able to explain why he waited so much to report this to police.
Sandeep has been married for seven years to Sangeeta, who recently filed dowry harassment and marital rape cases against him. A divorce is now in process.
The woman was arrested after the video was posted on Facebook by a person named Kundan Srivastava, who also made an appeal to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
