This Bihari Actor Has Taken The Latin American Film Industry By Storm

With his first Spanish movie titled ‘Enredados: la confusion’ (Entangled: The Confusion), Patna-born actor Prabhakar Sharan has become rising star of the Latin American film industry. His was one of the most popular films of the year 2017 in Costa Rica. It was shot in Mumbai, Panama and Costa Rica.

It is believed to be the first Latin American movie shot in typical Bollywood style having songs and dance. In the film, Prabhakar Sharan has played the lead role. Opposite him is Nancy Dobles, a famous television host of Costa Rica.

Prabhakar’s another dream project ‘Ek Chor, Do Mastikhor’ was released in six countries- Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and San Salvador in February last year and was quite a success at the box office. The film was distributed by Cinepolis and produced by Costa Rica-based Pacific Investment Corporation.

Former world wrestling champion and Hollywood actor Scott Steiner has played the lead role in the film, while local actors Mario Chacon and José Castro comprise the supporting cast. Now, Sharan is looking forward to releasing the film in English, Hindi and Bhojpuri sometime in March or April this year.

In an interview to PTI, talking about his film ‘Enredados: la confusion’, Prabhakar said:



The film bonds the two communities (Indians and Latins) together. This movie is not a just a movie for theatre it has become a milestone to Latin movie industry for the new difference and changes by its style.

Prabhakar’s journey to making successful movies in Latin America hasn’t been an easy one. He had landed in Costa Rica in the year 2000 for higher studies at Universidad Panamericana and got involved in the business of Indian clothing and restaurant after completing his studies. In 2006, he brought first Bollywood movie to Costa Rican theaters but his venture wasn’t a successful one back then.

Eventually he moved back to India where again he saw many ups and downs in professional as well as personal life. Finally he decided to move back to Costa Rica and revive his love for Bollywood films. And this time, he made it big! He is now gearing up for his next project titled ‘Borders Without Life’ which will be a film about people who put their lives at risk and adopt illegal means to come to the US!
