The alleged involvement of politicians and other bureaucrats in Bihar’s Srijan Scam is getting uglier and darker by the day.
The latest name to be associated with the case is of the Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi’s cousin Rekha Modi, though both reportedly do not share a cordial relationship.
As per news reports, the investigating agencies have got hold of some solid proofs regarding the link between Rekha Modi and the scamsters behind the Srijan controversy. In fact, media reports also suggest that Srijan had purchased diamonds and jewelries as gifts for bureaucrats and politicians.
It was later revealed by Ravi Jalan, the owner of Jalan Gems in Patna, that it was Rekha who had been consistently paying money on behalf of Srijan for the diamonds and other jewelries purchased.
It was perhaps this major involvement with the controversy that had her absconding from the limelight since the day the scam surfaced.
Meanwhile, on being asked about the whereabouts of her cousin Rekha, the Bihar Deputy CM said that he has nothing to do with his cousin as they have not been keeping good terms with each other since long time. Sushil Modi said:
“I have nothing to do with what she is doing. If there is anything wrong, the investigating agencies should probe.”
Till now, the investigating agencies have found strong evidences indicating the involvement of at least three politicians in the scam. The politicians include the BJP State Vice President (farmer’s cell) Bipin Sharma, the Bhagalpur district president of JD-U’s youth wing Shiv Kumar Mandal, and the Bhagalpur district unit RLSP chief Deepak Verma. All of these politicians, interestingly, belong to parties that are partners of NDA.
The case is currently being probed by the CBI and 10 FIRs has been registered so far.
