Amid the ongoing debate over whether one should chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai or not, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has said that he has “no problem chanting the words.”
He added that there was a “difference between worshipping the God and the country.”
He described the whole controversy surrounding the slogan as manufactured.
In an interview to a news channel, Jung said:
On Delhi chief minister’s allegation that he was “an agent of the BJP”, the L-G quoted poet Ram Prasad Bismil.
He also said that he was not in favour of Kejriwal’s latest decision of making the odd-even scheme a permanent feature in the Capital. The L-G said it would strain the Delhi Police.
On the JNU controversy, he said he disapproved of the university administration’s decision of summoning the police on campus, but added that he thought that “the Vice-Chancellor was new”.
Jung said the JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar needs “guidance.” He also said that he won’t admire him as many student leaders wither away with time.
