Everyday we hear countless appalling stories of women who face some kind of molestation at the hands of men. Either they have been raped, molested, assaulted or eve-teased. Such tragic stories infuriate us and make us question what’s wrong with the system.
Ironically, a country that is so deeply rooted in cultural values is infamously called the ‘land of rapes’.
Well, the shocking part is that women are unsafe even in the most developed cities. Recently, a video of a Bengaluru woman sharing her terrifying experience with male stalkers has gone viral. It painfully shows the dismal state of women safety in India.
She starts off by saying that she was driving home with her little son at about 10 P.M when she saw a BMW following her constantly. The car had a bunch of young guys who were driving right behind her. Horrified, she thought that heading home won’t be the right option for her. Thus, she headed to the police station for help.
But there, too, something even more terrible happened. According to her, the policemen refused to help her, and moreover, didn’t even allow her to enter the Police station. When she told the policeman that she was fearful of her life as she was being followed, they, instead of helping her, asked her to talk nicely to them.
This traumatic incident is one of the many examples of how a woman in India is ignored when she needs aid.
Watch her full account here, and her tears will leave you ashamed of being Indian.
Like always, the same question persists, when will India be safe for women?
