Bengali weddings, like any other regional wedding, have their own customs and culture that define it. There is no doubt Bengali wedding is a visual delight from the start to the end. Here is not just that only bride and groom enter into a new phase of their life, it is also an amalgamation of two families. During the wedding ceremony, everyone in the family participates in the rituals and makes it a beautiful and joyous moment for one and all.
As we all know that the Bidaai ceremony is most tearful part in every marriage. Post wedding as the couple make their way from the wedding venue to the groom’s home, the Bengali bride makes an offering of rice called “Kanakanjali” to her mother.
Through this ritual, the bride clears any and all debts that she had incurred during her years at her paternal home. It also symbolises the end of celebrations for the bride’s family.
However, in a Facebook video that is now going viral on Facebook, something different happened. This Bengali broke the tradition and along with it also won the hearts of everyone present there.
Watch the video:
The bride, instead of tossing the rice, said “You can never repay your parent’s debts.” People present at the venue can be heard saying “You’re completely correct.”
