West Bengal witnessed one of its biggest arms recoveries on September 7, when police seized 101 guns, 54 rounds of ammunition and 9 kg of explosives from a house in Rabindranagar, near Kolkata.
The arms raid was conducted after Bengal police got a tip-off from a source, revealed senior police officer Sunil Choudhary.
He also revealed that the main accused, Aftab Hussain, was arrested from the spot along with four of his accomplices who were part of this deal.
The house that was raided belonged to Hussain, who also lived there along with his family so as to use them as a cover for his illegal activities.
The police are now investigating if Hussain has any links with international arms suppliers.
95 of the 101 guns recovered are pipe guns, two are 9mm pistols and four single-barrel guns.
All five accused that were arrested have been sent to 14 days police custody.
