A beer party was held in a hotel in Varanasi. Nothing odd, you’d say. But the beer party was held on a dry day, when India was remembering the invaluable contribution of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in shaping our country.
What has raised the eyebrows of the city administration is also the fact that this beer party was held at the same hotel at the time when HRD minister Smriti Irani was honouring women for their achievements.
Boys were seen guzzling beer near a swimming pool of the hotel without any concern for the solemnity of the day or the law.
Reports say that while the boys were enjoying in their world of beer, Smriti Irani was honouring Kathak dancer Soni Chaurasiya for her Guinness record.
Irani was there attending the ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ event which was being held to spread awareness about girl child education. Other women too were honoured at the event.
According to reports, the boys are from a top engineering college of the city. The police has said that they have started an investigation into the matter and would file charges if the boys are found guilty.
It has come to light that the hotel is owned by a local BJP leader.
