Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who would be traveling to India next month from 7th April 2017 till 10th April 2017, will be honoring families of all Indian soldiers who were killed in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation war.
Furthermore, according to The Indian Express, she would have Prime Minister Narendra Modi by her side when she starts this process, where she is likely to present a citation and Rs 5 lakh for each fallen soldier.
She will start the citation process by honoring seven such families in Delhi on April 8 and then move ahead from there.
These seven families have been carefully chosen by the Bangladesh and Indian governments with four of them belonging to the Indian Army, and one each from the Air Force, Navy and the BSF.
In past Bangladesh had honored many Indians from all walks of life for playing a crucial role in their liberation.
These were top Army generals and officers, political leaders, activists, journalists, doctors, and diplomats.
They had also honored former Indian PMs Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee with the ‘Friends of Bangladesh’ award which was received by Congress president Sonia Gandhi and PM Modi respectively.
