A new attack by Maoists in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra has left 15 policemen seriously injured. A mine protected vehicle of C-60 commandos came under a landmine attack and blasted up the vehicle.
Officials disclosed that the incident took place on Wednesday when the vehicle was on a routine evening patrol near Bhamragad in the district.

Maheshwar Reddy, the additional superintendent of police of Gadchiroli, commented that the injured policemen were immediately taken to the nearest civil hospital while those gravely injured were airlifted to Nagpur for treatment.
In April this year, Maoists had killed 26 security personnel in Sukma district of Chattisgarh, making it the deadliest attack since 2013. A report by South Asia Terrorism Portal concludes that from 2005 to 2017, a total of 140 security personnel have been injured or martyred in Maharashtra.
