No successful person has ever made it with shortcuts. Every success story doesn’t include a privileged background or a couchy dream job. Some people have had to ‘burn the midnight’ oil to step up the ladder of success and only their hard work has yielded them results. In India, we have many such examples like current prime minister Narendra Modi and now, Asharam Choudhary.

Not just Narendra Modi, but even former president of India, Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, had a ‘rags’ to ‘riches’ story before he became a pioneer in science and technology. Now Asharam Choudhary, a 20-year-old lad, has gone down the same route.

Like Dr Kalam’s underprivileged background, Asharam Choudhary didn’t let poverty come in his way of dreams or aspirations. His father is a rag-picker.

Despite being poor, the young student scored an astonishing 707 All India rank and 141 ranks in the OBC category.

The 20-year-old cracked the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) MBBS Exam in his very first attempt, and is now eligible to get selected at AIIMS, Jodhpur.

Asharam Choudhary also secured 2,763 All India ranking in the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) in May, 2018. He wanted to become a doctor since he was 10.

It all started when he visited a ‘Jhola chaap’ (an unqualified practitioner) with his father in class 6th. Thereafter, Asharam chose his career and cracked many prestigious National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Tests.

As his father couldn’t afford his education, a noble businessman and an administrative officer facilitated his admission after his academic capabilities impressed them.

He received coaching from Dakshana Foundation (Pune) which trains those from impoverished rural families to pursue their engineering and medical dreams.

The meritorious student was chosen by the Silver Zone Foundation Olympiad in 10th standard. Doesn’t it remind us of this inspirational speech by the Dr Kalam?

Asharam Choudhary has shown a brilliant academic record ever since he was funded. He will begin college in Jaipur (AIIMS) from July 23.

Wishing Asharam the heartiest congratulations on his incredible achievement and giving inspiration to all.
