It began after the CBI raid on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office following which the AAP chief called the Prime Minister this:
Modi is a coward and a psycopath
— Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) December 15, 2015
Perhaps the reason behind such an outburst from Kejriwal is his claim that the CBI was being used to protect Finance Minister Arun Jaitley from an alleged scam that happened during the latter’s tenure as the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA).
Aam Aadmi Party has accused him of “misappropriating funds” from the DDCA and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sack him.
“The DDCA scam was about siphoning off money by creating fake companies between 1999 and 2013 and one year after that. This went on for 15 years,” AAP leader Kumar Vishwas said on Thursday.
Arun Jaitley was the president of the DDCA from 2000 to 2013. Kejriwal had formed a two-member committee to investigate the allegations.
Following the CBI raid on his office, the Delhi CM alleged that the purpose of the sleuths was to take away a file related to the investigation.
Which file was CBI looking for in my office? DDCA files in which Arun Jaitley is in dock. I was about to order a commission of enquiry — Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) December 15, 2015
The file movement register seized from CMO is dates from Sept 15 till December 14; again one that is directly related to Kejriwal’s tenure — Rupashree Nanda (@rupashreenanda) December 16, 2015
Kejriwal also alleged that the CBI has been directed to act this way:

But the CBI has denied searching Kejriwal’s office, and said it was only investigating corruption charges against the chief minister’s principal secretary Rajendra Kumar.
“Jaitley was the DDCA President for many years and I had set up a committee to probe all the corruption that took place during his tenure. The committee has submiited its report and a commission of inquiry was to be set up over it, and a file pertaining to it was in my office,” alleged Kejriwal.
The AAP leaders have been demanding the resignation of Arun Jaitley. On Wednesday, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that a probe into the graft allegations in DDCA cannot be done till Jaitley is in power.
The Finance Minister, on his part, refuted the allegations levelled against him by the AAP calling it a “part of propaganda to deflect attention” from the actual reason behind the CBI raid.
“Finding himself acting as a shield to cover an officer under investigation, the Delhi chief minister has attempted to focus attention on me. I left cricket administration in 2013. By referring to some facts of 2014 and 2015, he (Kejriwal) can’t drag me in.”
But ex-cricketers too have hurled major corruption charges at DDCA officials including Jaitley.
One of them is BJP’s own MP from Darbhanga Kirti Azad who in June 2015 requested the Delhi police to file an FIR against top DDCA officials for flouting rules during the tenure of Arun Jaitley.
He had also alleged that liquor was circulated at Ferozshah Kotla on October 2, 2013, which was a dry day – a violation of Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act (1971). He says that he will reveal more in a press conference this Sunday.
Bishan Singh Bedi too has raised questions on the running and conduct of operations under DDCA, which were supported by Kejriwal.
In a narrative reportage on the state of cricket in Delhi, Sidharth Monga of ESPNcricinfo wrote how in spite of producing more cricketers than other states, DDCA is still ravaged by a host of issues. The BCCI has stopped DDCA’s funds because the association has not filed its accounts, he writes.
Arun Jaitley claims that Kejriwal is indulging in falsehood and “seems to believe in untruth and defamation”. But on Thursday, Arvind Kejriwal again reiterated his party’s call for the resignation of the Finance Minister in view of the “very serious allegations” against him. Between them, cricket suffers.
