What Forced Former SBI Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya To Sleep On The Floor?

A picture of State Bank of India’s former Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya sleeping on the floor has gone viral on the internet. In this picture, she can be seen sleeping on the carpet with a pillow on floor and has a water bottle, her glasses and mobile phone kept beside her. Have a look at the viral picture below:

The picture left many scratching their heads since as the former chief of the SBI she must be drawing a salary in lakhs of rupees every month then why she has to sleep on the floor.

The answer to this puzzle is that Arundhati Bhattacharya was actually sleeping on the floor on an airport.

As reported by the Times of India, it happened as British Airways’ flight from Mumbai to London had to take an emergency landing at Baku airport of Azerbaijan. The flight had to take an emergency landing as smoke was detected in its first class cabin. The flight, BA198 was then rerouted to Baku. All the passengers had to wait at the Baku airport for as many as nineteen hours.

While waiting for their aircraft to become operational again, a number of passengers slept on the airport floor. Among those was Bhattacharya as well. Her picture went viral on the internet after it was shared on the internet by a Twitter user.

Arundhati Bhattacharya has served SBI, the largest bank of the country, as Chairman for a period of seven years. She was the first female chief of SBI and had retired from her services in October this year, after serving the bank for more than 40 years. Her name has also been included in the list of ’25 Most Powerful Women of 2016′ by Forbes magazine. She was also awarded Banker of the Year at FE Best Bank Awards 2015-16 recently.
