Arshad Warsi Agrees With Salman, Says Ranbir Can Never Really Become Sanjay Dutt

Arshad Warsi is a quirky and offbeat actor who remained underrated for quite some time before getting his dues. He debuted in 1996 with Amitabh Bachchan’s home production ‘Tere Mere Sapne’. And while he received much critical acclaim for almost all of his roles, he rose to widespread fame only in 2003 with Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’.

During the shooting for the comedy film, Warsi forged a close friendship with Sanjay Dutt (aka Sanju), and they remain close friends still. They also worked in the sequel to ‘Munna Bhai: M.B.B.S.’ and won the audience over with their ‘Gandhigiri’.

In a recent interview, Arshad Warsi shared his views on the much awaited Sanjay Dutt biopic – ‘Sanju’. He also had a few things to say about actor Ranbir Kapoor, who portrays Sanju in the movie.

It is interesting to note that during his recent Race 3 promotions, Salman Khan also said something about the biopic. According to media reports, this is what the actor had to say when asked about the trailer of ‘Sanju’:

“Whenever Sanju wants to make a comeback, he will. It is all left to Sanjay Dutt, the day he thinks ‘I want to come back, he will be back’.”

Salman further added:

“Even for the movie Sanju, I thought why did somebody else play his part. No one can do justice to that. The last bit of the film, Sanju only should have played it himself. The last portion of the last eight to ten years, Sanju only should have done it.”

And, when it came down to Arshad Warsi, it seems he is of the same opinion as Salman. When asked about his views on his friend’s upcoming movie in an open media interaction, Dailyhunt reported the actor saying:

“Ranbir is phenomenal. I mean mujhe hamesha lagta hai ki woh bahut achcha actor hai, lekin kisi aur ki tarah banna, kisi aur ke bol chaal, uska lehja pakadna woh ek alag hi mushkilaat hai usmein and he’s very good.”

While the actor did praise Ranbir Kapoor’s ability, he also agreed with what Salman said:

“Nahin obviously because Sanju Sanju hai. Aap chahein kuch bhi kar lein aap Sanju nahin ho sakte. You can’t be the original. So that is obviously the fact. There is nobody I mean the way Sanju walks, talks. Jo bhi actor karega woh sirf usko imitate kar sakta hai, woh Sanju ban toh nahin sakta na. So it’s always there.”

There was also a recent news of tiff between Salman Khan and Rishi Kapoor (Ranbir’s father). You can read all about it here.

Sanjay Dutt (Sanju) has some very thick friends who would walk the length of the earth for him. Two of these people are Salman Khan and Arshad Warsi. It is natural for these close friends to believe that no other actor or person can completely emulate or become Sanju. What do you think?
