About two weeks ago, the Indian Army lost one of its brave soldiers in an encounter with terrorists in Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir. The body of 25-years old Ajay Kumar hailing from Panjola village in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh was flown to his hometown and cremated with full military honors.

Belonging to 42 Rashtriya  Rifles, Ajay Kumar had suffered severe injuries during the gunfight in a joint operation by CRPF and Indian Army against Jaish-e-Mohammad militants. The martyr breathed his last in the Army base hospital. In the operation, four terrorists and 2 security personnel including Ajay lost their lives.

Ajay Kumar had joined the Army in 2013 and is survived by his parents. According to a report by Amarujala, apart from Ajay Kumar, his parents lost another son about two months ago due to ill health. Realizing the pain of Ajay Kumar’s parents, who have lost two sons in a span of two months, Major Deepak Dhawan, a retired Army officer has done something that will fill every Indian’s heart with respect for him.

After Ajay Kumar’s martyrdom, Major Deepak Dhawan took all the responsibility of his parents on himself. After Ajay Kumar’s parents were left with no one to take care of them, Major Dhawan said that from now onward he will treat them as his own parents.

Major Dhawan served intelligence unit of the Indian Army for 21 years and then topped public services examination and got appointed as deputy director of Soldiers Welfare Board. Presently, he is taking care of Sirmaur and Solan areas. Major Dhawan says that he will support martyr Ajay’s parents in the exact same way as Ajay would have. He will take care of all their necessities and be there for them at all times of need. He took the responsibility of fulfilling all the dreams that Ajay Kumar had for his parents.

Don’t you think this is a very noble and heartfelt gesture by Dhawan and many more Indians should take inspiration from him? Share your views with us in the comments!
