Steve Wozniak, popularly known as Woz is the co-founder of International brand Apple. He was the person who engineered the first computer of Apple.

Recently, in an interview, he gave his opinions about the education scenario in India. He further spoke about the startup scenario across India.

He is someone who believes in the intermingling of technology and creativity. He never leaves a chance to praise Steve Jobs for his creativity. Woz further confirms that the popularity of Apple mainly rests on Steve Jobs. It is because he was the one who knew what consumers want.

Though he is no longer with the organization but his love for the concern is still apparent. He furthermore added:

“I am the only person who has had a paycheck every week since the first day we started the company. I have a small token salary even now.”

When asked about the culture in India he said that Indian education system is all about getting academic degrees to end up in a good job. He added that the education system crams students in studies and hard work.

During the interview he also added, Indian society is divided into two part – upper India and lower India. He thinks this is the result of lack of creativity in the education system. He furthermore stated, the behavior of Indians is too predictable. This is one of the leading causes of unemployment in the country as no one thinks differently.

In his own words:

“The culture here is one of success based upon academic excellence, studying, learning, practising and having a good job and a great life. For upper India, not the lower. I see two Indias. That’s a lot like Singapore study, study, work hard and you get an MBA, and you will have a Mercedes but where is the creativity?”

In a country that is dominated by a young population, it’s about time the education system undergoes a huge change. In this regard, he praised the New Zealand government.

He said:

“Look at a small country like New Zealand, the writers, singers, athletes, it’s a whole different world.”
