Apart from being known for his unconventional and neo-noir films, Anurag Kashyap is also quite popular for his opinions on social media. The director is never seen to mince his words before criticizing anyone, be it the government policies or raising his voice on social issues through his tweets. His remarks and his outspoken nature on social media have dragged him into controversies multiple times in the past. Trolls have, in fact, not only targeted him but even targeted his daughter by sending her rape threats following Kashyap’s straight-forward nature on social media.
In a recent video featuring Anurag Kashyap, the director was apparently seen ‘rolling a joint’ that seems to have landed the filmmaker in trouble. A Twitter user has complained to Mumbai Police that the filmmaker is actually ‘rolling a joint’ in the video, which is ‘illegal in India’. The filmmaker however soon afterward responded to the tweet, claiming he was rolling up tobacco.
“Hello @MumbaiPolice, will you please look into this? Here @anuragkashyap72 is rolling a joint which is illegal in India,” the user wrote.

To this, Anurag Kashyap responded, tagging Mumbai Police: “Yes please for once @MumbaiPolice look into it. Once and for all let’s make it clear that I roll tobacco and please thoroughly investigate for the satisfaction of the bhakts and the trolls.”

Although, this surely has ignited the curiosity amongst many netizens who have started wondering how the filmmaker managed to get tobacco in these days of lockdown, when the commodity was not being sold openly.
“I am impressed by your honesty sir. Purchasing loose tobacco and rolling it. Accha one minute, where do you get this tobacco from… dawa ki dukaan or sabzi ki dukaan,” a user sarcastically commented.
