‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ is all set to hit the theaters on August 11. The story revolves around the problem of sanitation in India. It talks about the major issue of open defecation in the country.
Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, and Anupam Kher are going everywhere for the promotion of the film. The movie is also being linked with Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and this is why the film is gaining a lot of attention before its release.
Anupam Kher, who is famous for not mincing his words and expressing his opinions boldly on the matters that concern the nation, has yet again proved his love for the nation. The actor recreated a ‘Namastey London’ scene in reality by slamming a British reporter who was trying to undermine India because of its poor sanitation condition.
Anupam Kher, along with the team of ‘Toilet- Ek Prem Katha’, was invited for an interview by British channel – Channel 4. While taking a dig at the film, the presenter, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, first asked that a film which talks about the problem of open defecation in the country is being released around the Independence Day on August 11.
To which, all the three stars responded with a “yes”.
As the film revolves around the issue of open defecation, the presenter went on to ask,
How do you feel this is such a big issue in your country 70 years after Independence?
This time Anupam Kher didn’t stop himself and gave a befitting reply. The actor said,
The expression is different on my side. We are only 70 years old. Britishers ruled us for 200 years, they should have done that (educate people about sanitation). They did railway tracks first, for themselves. They wanted them to remain poor, not get educated, so that they can say ‘Oh these Indians. How they do it – they defecate in the open.’ So, that is also an issue.
Almost reliving the scene of Akshay Kumar starrer, ‘Namaste London’, Anupam Kher won our hearts with his bang on reply.
