The creation of new states has altered the history and the geography of the world.
One such example is that of the Jewish state of Israel. One of the most powerful states in the world with unmatched defence power, the tiny nation of Israel is sandwiched between the Arab nations and Palestine.
Palestine has always been a trouble spot for Israel — the continuing rise of anti-Semitism in the region, Gaza strip and hostile relations with neighbours has made Israel take some drastic steps.
The world has divided opinions, countries like the US finds the best ally in Israel and India loves its loyal partner while the Arab and Islamic nations loathe the state because of it’s strong policies in relation to Palestine.
The unprecedented rise of anti-Semitism around the world and in Arab countries particularly have made what Israel is today. Take a look at some of the photographs will portray the sheer hatred towards the Jews:
The liberal Hollywood who has made many movies based on true stories of the Arab nation has surprisingly drifted apart from what it used to believe. Till about two decades back, many Jewish actors in Hollywood loved Israel and staunchly supported its policies.
The new generation in Hollywood which are less connected with the Holocaust have different opinions. These men and women are the evidence that decades of solid American support to Israel in now dwindling.
The pop icon, Selena Gomez was one of the first from the Hollywood to post on Instagram her support for Palestine. In no time, Rihanna followed her steps and tweeted #FreePalestine.
Lisa Goldman, a New-York based publisher of an Israeli magazine, commented:
I’m an Israeli citizen, but it’s unhealthy to be willfully uncritical about the place. Opinions have shifted. Young Jewish professionals in their 30s are less willing to turn a blind eye or justify Israel’s policies, and some of what you see being tweeted by celebrities is symbolic of that.
The views of the new girls in Tinseltown apparently did not go well with older actors who were shocked and upset with them. They believe that the new generation is less connected to Holocaust and are steering away from Israel because of its policies in the last five years.
Award-winning acclaimed actor Jon Voight has aptly described his sentiments in a speech he delivered at Durban III conference in New York.
Talking about how the Arabs are planning to wipe off Israel from the map, he correctly nails that if Israel fails, America will fail.
I am here to express my outrage that anti-Semetic Arabs can give themselves the right to decide the fate of Israel, when we all that the the political Arab and Palestinian mandate is to wipe Israel off the map.
Talking about Gaza he said:
Israel has given Palestine Gaza and what have they got in return? Continuous firing of rockets with the aim to kill hundreds of thousands of people.
Differentiating Zionism from racism, he said:
Zionism is philanthropy, helping others and believing in life and freedom.
He suggested that America should further withdraw any aid to the Arab nations who kill innocent Israelis and that the aid to UN must also be discontinued as long as there are anti-Semitic people running the roost.
Here is the entire video of his speech:
Voight had previously slammed celebrities who had called Israel an “occupier” and accused it of committing “genocide” in Palestine.
