Anshul Saxena is a self-proclaimed news junkie, who mainly writes on political and social issues. With 159K followers on Twitter, his posts are often praised by the netizens. Recently, he claimed on Facebook that due to his posts on an alleged missing girl, he might get arrested by Kolkata Police.
On February 20, 2018, a well-known Bengali daily Sangbad Pratidin reported that a minor Hindu girl is held captive in one of the ‘sensitive’ (Muslim dominated) areas in Kolkata. The report said that despite knowing about the location and having phone numbers of the accused, police are not doing anything as they are afraid to enter the area. The area in question is Metiabruz which is ‘ruled’ by Mintu.
The daily further added that the complaint was made by the girl’s father Vinod Das, who works with Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The report says she went missing on June 9, 2017, from Garden Reach area. The next day the father came to know the location of the girl and filed a complaint that Mintu along with his father Korban Ali is keeping the girl captive.
The report went on saying that even after eight months, the police didn’t take any steps and that is when the father went to seek help from court. Judge Debangsu Basak ordered the police to raid the area but there has been no news of compliance from Kolkata police yet, as reported in the daily. This news was also reported by another popular daily Anandabazar Patrika. Since then, Anshul has been trying to create awareness about the case in social media to seek justice for the girl.
Here is one of his tweets from February:
Ali and Sheikh abducted Vinod’s daughter on June, 2017. Girl is still in captivity but Bengal police of Mamata Banerjee refused to raid to recover girl citing law & order concerns in a sensitive area. Thanks to HC who issued order to take immediate action. https://t.co/BU6JPfk2lr

On April 17, 2018, Kolkata Police Detective Department tweeted saying that some people are spreading the news about a missing girl who is held captive in Metiabruz area. The tweet further dismissed the allegations saying it’s just a way of creating communal tension among the citizens. The police also said that anyone tweeting about it will be dealt severely.
Read the tweet:

Soon after this tweet, many of Anshul’s well-wishers and followers asked him to delete the posts from social media. However, refusing to give in to the fear, he posted the entire matter on Facebook. In his post, he wrote that he believes in independent research and also provided proof claiming that the incident is true. Besides providing the links of the dailies, he also provided the copy of the judgment from the authentic link of The Judgments Information System. Here is the copy:
In his FB post, Saxena has emphasized on the fact that the case is absolutely true and also addressed the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee saying that she can make the police arrest him but can never suppress his voice for justice.
Expectedly, after seeing Kolkata Police Detective Department’s tweet, other users reacted condemning the authority for calling the case a rumor. Read the tweets here:

@KishoreKar @kinsukPbiswas which is false? That the minor is captive in Metiabruz or that KP was afraid to enter there? If the former is false, then KP must be knowing where she is. Then why didn’t you rescue her as yet? Even if the latter is false, then too, KP’s has failed.
