One of India’s most celebrated long jumper Anju Bobby George might soon get an Olympic Silver medal as she is planning to make an appeal to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with regards to the illegal means that the Russian’s used to monopolize the 2004 Olympic event.
George, who in 2004 had come 5th at the Athens Olympic Games, claims that she was”robbed” of her Olympic medal as the Russian athletes were using “unfair means to get ahead”.
“I won’t tell you the exact thing, but we have seen some questionable behaviour from them, with first-hand accounts which we will put forward to the necessary authority. I saw both of them drinking some liquid, which was weird to me as I was not handed that. So I thought it went through the tight security, but clearly, that was not the case.”
George, along with 4th and 6th placed athletes Bronwyn Thompson and Jade Johnson, plans to approach IOC and appeal them to look into the case.

In 2004, Goerge, with a jump of 6.83m (a national record that still stands), had finished 5th at the Athens Olympics. While Bronwyn Thompson had finished 4th in the event, the three Russian athletes had taken the top three spots.
