What will you do when your favorite trees from childhood are going to be felled mercilessly for the expansion of the road? Most of us might give up already because it is useless to play the emotional card in front of official orders. But one man decided to go against the tradition and save trees.
An MLA from Andhra Pradesh translocated four Peepul trees from the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam highway to Bandar Canal Bund, near Tadigadapa Bridge. MLA Bode Prasad, with the help of locals and the police, had all the four trees lifted from their original location and moved to a safer place with the help of trucks and cranes.
The expense of this translocation came around 1lakh which was taken care of personally by the politician. He also explained the importance of trees like Peepul and asked the officials to be sensitive towards them.
Mr. Prasad informed that these trees were around since his childhood and he couldn’t imagine them being axed. It is notable that thousands of trees were already cut down for the expansion of the road before officials moved to felling these trees.
It was a matter of disappointment for MLA Prasad that the trees were being cut down indiscriminately. His determination to save the trees has set example in front of all us. The benevolence and importance of trees in our lives is not unknown to anyone. Therefore, it is our duty to save something which is known for giving shade, fruits, and goodness.
We hope that after introducing us to a good deed like this, MLA Bode Prasad continues to be a savior of trees and helps the environment breathe fresh air.
