Gujarat’s first woman chief minister Anandiben Patel has expressed her wish to resign from her post.

She said in a Facebook post, “I want to resign before reaching 75 years’ age. Two months ago, I had sought to be relieved. I sent the request again to top brass on Monday.”

In her post, she said that she wants to resign before Vibrant Gujarat Summit and elections which are due later in the year.

She wrote,”I have been a committed BJP worker for the past 30 years. I am indebted to the leadership to have elevated me from Mahila Morcha to Chief Minister.  I am going to be 75 years old in November. The very important Vibrant Gujarat Summit is being held in January 2017 and elections are due later in the year.. It is good for a new leadership to organise and plan these two big events.”

Soon after her post went viral, BJP acknowledged her request and said that they will decide further course of action.
