Though presently Bachchan family is famous for their reign over Bollywood, let’s not forget it’s the family of celebrated Indian poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Famous for his books like Madhushala and Madhukalash, he is one of the most noted poets of 20th Century.
Now his literary legacy is being carried forward by his granddaughter Shweta Bachchan-Nanda. Renowned publisher HarperCollins India recently announced that they have acquired the publishing rights for Shweta’s upcoming book, “Paradise Towers.” The book is set to release in October 2018.
Like a proud and doting father, Amitabh Bachchan shared the news with his fans on Instagram along with the caption:
“THE PROUDEST-FATHER .. my daughter the best and GREATEST !!”

Shweta is the eldest daughter of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan who stayed away from the world of films. Married to businessman Nikhil Nanda, she is the mother of Navya Naveli and Agastya. About her decision of writing the book, Shweta said:
“The idea for Paradise Towers came to me one morning on waking up. This is not unnatural for me. I come from a family of storytellers. As children, we were encouraged to write and read and our imaginations were given a free reign.”
“The concept of a book and the actual writing of it are two very different things. Writing this story down was daunting. Lots of second guessing and labouring over words made up the process. I am excited to have my first book published but I am also anxious to know what the readers think of the microcosm that is Paradise Towers, and I hope they would come to be as invested in the lives of its inhabitants as I have come to be.”
Now, only time will tell if she really carries forward the legacy of her grandfather as expected by her father, or it is going to be a one time gig.
