Truth is stranger than fiction. This statement has been proven to be true, time after time. And this time, a chicken proved it true!
Recently, a video footage of a decapitated chicken surfaced. What is special about that? The chicken survived more than a week after being decapitated! This incredible bird was found in Mueang Ratchaburi district of Ratchaburi Province in central Thailand. The chicken is now adopted by the monks who have vowed to take care of it.
The video has been seen more than 400,000 times since it appeared online. In the video, the headless chicken is being fed through a syringe by a monk. A vet named as Supakadee Arun Thong was the first one who started taking care of the chicken by dropping antibiotic and food down its neck. She said, ‘The animal has its life. If it wants to live, we feed it.’
A chicken has a unique anatomy. The brain of the bird is at a certain angle in the skull, and therefore if it’s beheaded too high up the neck then the breathing function stays intact. That is why it can still stand up and stay alive despite having no head.
This is, however, not the first incident of headless chicken! In 1945, a farmer in Colorado tried to cut up a chicken but it refused to die. Named as “Miracle Mike” the bird stayed alive for 18 months after being decapitated. As for ‘true warrior,’ only time will tell how long it will stay alive.
