Recently, pictures of Mahira Khan and Ranbir Kapoor bonding over smoke in New York went viral on the internet and it soon became a hot topic of discussion. As criticism on social media platforms is the trend these days, people started calling out the Pakistani actress for wearing a backless dress and smoking with another man. The conservatives noted that Mahira is a single mother.
Wearing a white backless dress, Mahira was spotted with Ranbir Kapoor, who was in his full on Sanjay Dutt avatar for the actor’s biopic. The pictures spread across the internet like a wildfire. According to reports, the pictures were taken in July.
People may have questioned Mahira’s character after seeing the pictures but the actress has got support from fellow Pakistani actor, Ali Zafar. In response to people criticizing the actress, Zafar posted a few lines on Twitter for Mahira.
In his post, Zafar talked about women’s equality and the freedom they deserve in this era. Here’s what Zafar wrote in support of Mahira:
What has happened to us?Have we lost all sense of sensibility?
Must we choose gossip, intrigue and the self-appointed right of judgement over restrained, grace, tolerance and compassion?
Every woman has the right to make her own choices in life (as long she’s not hurting anyone else), just like we men do.
How we react defines our own character. Choose wisely, for we SHALL be judged!

Ali Zafar, with his simply-worded but powerful post, has slammed those who cast aspersions on Mahira’s character. The actor’s post is also a reply to the media which tried sensationalizing the pictures with their self-baked stories.
