On October 2, 2014, PM Narendra Modi launched a revolutionary campaign, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and the whole country pledged to actively participate in this movement. Both the rural and urban people started acknowledging the importance of keeping India clean. One of the most harmful things that affect our environment and make it toxic is open defecation. And through this mission, around 10 lakh toilets were built to eradicate this problem.
Still, more than 300 million women and girls in India have no other alternative than to openly defecate because their homes are devoid of proper and clean toilets. According to UNICEF, 50% of the rape cases happen when women defecate in the open.

Keeping this alarming situation in mind, Akshay Kumar posted an insightful video, where he shared some shocking facts about open defecation. He sends out a powerful message to build more toilets for the poor to ensure the safety and health of rural women in India.
