Few days back, three Army jawans, including NK Narpat Singh Rathore, were martyred in an encounter with suspected ULFA terrorists near Digboi in Tinsukia, Assam.
Anguished by the incident, actor Akshay Kumar called up Narpat Singh’s family and donated Rs 9 lakh to them.
While talking to his family, he said he received the news of Narpat Singh laying down his life for the country from media and said he is standing with the family during this time of grief.
When Narpat Singh’s wife thanked him for his gesture, he said that it was his duty.
He said, “We actors are reel life heroes but people like Narpat Singh Ji are real life hero. My feelings are with the family and I will stay in touch with your family in future too.”
During the soldier’s last rites ceremony in Jaisalmer, Rajsathan, when his son Phool Singh was asked to lit his father’s funeral pyre, he turned emotional and said “don’t burn him, it will hurt.”
Narpat Singh’s father Sawai Singh and uncle Tane Singh are retired from the Army. His another uncle Dalpat Singh has also served the Army.
Narpat Singh is survived by one son and three daughters. His son Phool Singh is studying in a private school.
According to Tane Singh, service for the country is in the blood of the family.
Akshay Kumar is known to be vocal about his love towards Indian Defence Forces. Akshay Kumar is himself an Army brat and has made a lot of Patriotic bollywood flicks. Earlier, Akshay Kumar came forward and donated Rs 9 lakh to the family of martyred BSF Soldier’Gurnam Singh’.
