With Uttar Pradesh’s 2017 assembly election regarded as the most significant poll, the state CM Akhilesh Yadav said that it will be fought on a ‘development agenda’.
In an interview to Economic Times, he took a sharp jibe at his rivals.
On Rahul Gandhi, Yadav said he can’t speak for him but, if any party which wants to strengthen its leaders, should give them responsibility.
He emphasised the point by saying SP gave him responsibility and that helped him mature.
However, he feels that if Priyanka Gandhi becomes face of Congress in UP, then new ideas will be infused into the party.
Further, he said, “Congress-mukt (free) Bharat is becoming a reality. Congress wasn’t able to keep BJP out… plus it did not make much of the opportunity it got.”
On reference to the ex-UP CM Mayawati Yadav, he said that she brought UP back to ‘stone age’.
