Many Congressmen are shocked after the Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal roped in senior advocate and former union minister P Chidambaram to fight the case of who is the administrative head of Delhi Government before the Supreme Court. With the Kejriwal government having engaged Chidambaram, several congress leaders and supporters are recalling the day when Chidambaram was publicly called as being one of the most corrupt leaders of India by none other than Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
P. Chidambaram has joined a team of legal advisories, which will argue the pleas challenging a Delhi High Court ruling that proclaimed the lieutenant governor as the administrative boss of the Capital.
While the senior Congress leaders have not spoken anything regarding this arrangement, AAP insisted that “there have been previous instances where political leaders have fought legal cases in favour of their political adversaries.”
It is to be remembered that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) previously on several occasions hit out at Congress leaders, specifically P. Chidambaram. In fact, Jarnail Singh, the person who had hurled a shoe at Chidambaram, was inducted into AAP right after the incident.
In fact, Delhi governments official spokesperson Nagendar Sharma took to Twitter in 2015, tagging Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken in 2015, to express his disgust at the Congress leaders involved in scams. He wrote:
Poor Delhi Cong leaders demand action against BSES but their senior leaders Chidambaram and Sibal argue in Supreme Court for immediate government payment. Ajay Maken, ask your senior colleagues P Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Singhvi who appear for discoms how they got a court stay.
However, when approached for a comment, Chidambaram said that he has agreed to fight for Delhi government in the case and not in favor of the “Kejriwal government”.
On the other hand, Maken, too, maintained a similar stance and said that being a professional advocate, P. Chidambaram was just fighting another case – this time he will be representing Delhi government, that’s it.
But Maken did not fail to take a dig at the Delhi CM, saying:
Kejriwal has finally fallen onto the feet of Chidambaram whom he himself once criticized.
He also took to his official Twitter account to further this dig at the Delhi CM:
