In 1999, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s mesmerizing jodi did wonders on the silver screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’.

There is no denying that the same movie started the relationship Salman and Aishwarya. The onscreen chemistry between the two was really appreciated and soon the rumors of their off screen affair started spreading.

Unfortunately, the relationship didn’t work out and resulted in many controversies. Since then, Salman has become the eligible bachelor of the Indian film industry and Aishwarya Rai is now happily married in the Bachchan family.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is famous for his big budget films and royal sets, kept creating magic on the silver screen with different celebrities. He made ‘Bajirao Mastani’ with Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Priyanka Chopra. However, rumors say that Bhansali was keen to bring the jodi of Salman and Aishwarya back with ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and his upcoming movie ‘Padmavati’.

The misunderstanding and quarrels between Salman and Aishwarya made them part ways and this shattered Bhansali’s dream. But yes, Sanjay Leela Bhansali did try to convince Ash and Salman to act in ‘Padmavati’.

When Bhansali went to convince Aishwarya, she agreed to take up the role of Rani Padmavati but on one strict condition.

She wanted Salman Khan to play the role of the antagonist Alauddin Khilji. The reason behind this condition was that there would have been no scenes between the two despite both of them being part of the movie.

Sadly, Salman couldn’t imagine himself in the role of Khilji and demanded to play the role of Raja Ratan Singh – Rani Padmavati’s husband.

Things couldn’t work and, as a result, we will be seeing Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as Raja Ratan Singh and the most energetic star of Bollywood Ranveer Singh as the antagonist – Alauddin Khilji!

‘Padmavati’ will be releasing on November 17, 2017, but we won’t be seeing Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai.
