Recently we came to know about the grand wedding celebrations of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son Tej Pratap Yadav. Many highlights from the wedding that took place of May 12 have made news. The wedding was attended by many honchos of Bihar’s politics including chief minister Nitish Kumar, many of his cabinet ministers, Sharad Yadav, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and many others.

Another highlight from the wedding that caught media’s attention was the ‘joota churai’ ritual. ‘Joota churai’ is one of the best parts of any Indian wedding. Bride’s sisters steal the shoes of the groom and return them only when they get a gift or cash as per their wish. Only when the groom’s saalis (sisters-in-law) return his shoes, the groom can take the bride to his home and the wedding is considered as complete.

According to a report by Jansatta, Aishwarya Rai’s sisters demanded Rs 10 lakh from Tej Pratap but he dodged their demand. Then his younger brother Tejaswi Yadav intervened and settled bride’s sisters’ demand for Rs 50,000.

But then Tej Pratap offered them to accept Rs 20 as the first installment as they might have to face the income tax department on getting a higher amount!

On this statement by Tej Pratap, the bride’s sisters handed him sleepers instead of shoes and told him to accept them as their first installment, promising to return the shoes on getting the full amount!
