Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the Dera chief, has been accused of raping two of his former female followers. The sadhvi had written an anonymous letter to the then-PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee accusing Gurmeet Ram Rahim of raping her multiple times inside the Dera campus.

The CBI special court will give its verdict on Rahim’s case on August 25, hence, two major cities – Chandigarh and Panchkula, are on complete lockdown.

Thousands of Dera followers have already gathered in Panchkula to show their support to Ram Rahim.

Fearing trouble, mobile internet services have been suspended for 72 hours in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. 22 trains to Punjab and 7 to Haryana have been canceled. Also, government offices in Punjab will be closed.

Moreover, the American Embassy has put out a travel advisory urging US citizens against traveling to Delhi on Friday in light of the court’s verdict.

With such massive security for a person who is accused of rape, the internet is rightly questioning the authenticity of this situation.
