Let’s face it. A good actor always believes in pushing his limits, both mentally and physically. For them, a role is an extension of who they are. They are ready to transform their body and their facial features to get into the skin of the character and this is when an actor becomes an artist, and people are left astounded as they see them on a 70 mm screen.
Here are some great actors who underwent amazing transformations that made them (almost) unrecognizable.
1. Kamal Hassan in ‘Chachi 420’.
The great actor, Kamal Hasaan, certainly deserves the top spot. When he transformed himself into a chachi, he was outstanding and everyone was left greatly amazed. He made the character look so real and authentic that in some scenes we actually doubted whether he is actually playing the role of a chachi.
Simply, a genius at work.
2. Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Paa’.
Amitabh Bachchan’s role in ‘Paa’ is iconic. Playing a child suffering from Progeria is a very challenging task. Not only the actor had to change the way he looked, but he also had to understand the frame of mind of a sensitive and unusual kid.
Only an actor like Big B could have done justice to this.
3. Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Fan’.
You might disagree but Shah Rukh’s role as Gaurav is one of his most memorable performances. Though the role was not very written, the way King Khan played a psycho fan was indeed laudable.
4. Hrithik Roshan in ‘Dhoom 2’
Hrithik Roshan is just another word for perfection. He was, quite simply, the heart, the soul, and the spirit of ‘Dhoom 2’. In this unabashedly entertaining film, his disguised characters were a treat to watch.
5. Rishi Kapoor in ‘Kapoor and Sons’
Let’s forget for a while what Rishi Kapoor tweets and remember his coolest makeover ever as a grandfather in ‘Kapoor and Sons’. He wants to smoke a little weed, watch a little porn and get a nice family portrait. What an amazing family man!
6. Piyush Mishra in ‘Tamasha’
Imtiaz Ali’s profound creativity blended with clinging and grasping Sufism made ‘Tamasha’ a must watch for everyone. Ranbir Kapoor rejuvenated his divine chemistry with Deepika and they ignited their intriguing reel romance. But beyond them, there was another great actor who stole the show. It was Piyush Mishra’s role as a storyteller. He gave a stellar performance, though his role was really short.
7. Randeep Hooda in ‘Sarabjit’.
Randeep Hooda is certainly one of the industry’s most underrated talents. He shined in ‘Sarabjit’ and his physical transformation from a happy-go-lucky young farmer and wrestling enthusiast to a ragged prisoner was remarkable.
8. Chunky Pandey in ‘Begum Jaan’.
Chunky Pandey played an absolutely ruthless man who stops at nothing to fulfill his greed in ‘Begum Jaan’. This evil role earned him critical acclaim, something that he missed since his ‘Tezaab’ days.
9. Akshay Kumar in ‘2.0’.
Akshay will be playing the main antagonist in the Shankar-directed movie in ‘2.o’. The movie also marks Akshay’s first project in Tamil cinema.
10. Uday Chopra for an untitled film.
This is a surprising entry here. According to Lehren reports, Uday Chopra has transformed himself into a bulky character.
Let’s see if his acting skills can also gain some talent.
